What is Summerville to me?

Summerville to me is Home!  Most folks probably do not get as connected as I do about where they live but I do and I think it's for a good reason.  My family moved here in 2006 from Pittsburgh, PA (go Steelers) but in 2008 we closed up our house and headed back north for a few months because I needed a double-lung transplant. I was born with Cystic Fibrosis and after 32 years of lung infections my "puffers" were only working at 18%.  Somewhere in my pictures at home I am riding my motorcycle with oxygen attached.  Boy did I get some funny looks. December 23,2008 I got my new lungs from Roy (who sadly passed away that night but was an organ donor).  Unfortunately, it was not smooth sailing but after 60 days I was released from the hospital and allowed to return to my parents home to start a long recovery.  April of 2009 I was given permission to return "home" (Summerville) where we still live today and am grateful every morning to see the sun, hear by daughter laugh, see my wife smile and continue living life to the fullest.

If you are not an organ donor please educate yourself and consider being one.  Here is a site for more information. http://www.lifepoint-sc.org/
